Emigre essays online
Unless you are a bit of a type-nerd or design-geek you probably have never heard of Emigre but you will have definitely been exposed to may of the American type foundry’s faces over the last twenty years. Starting in the late eighties, Emigre published their self-titled design magazine that became the voice of a generation in graphic design and pioneered a new wave of critical writing about the craft and our culture generally. Émigré ceased publication in 2005 and finally some of the magazine’s most influential essays from sold-out issues are being published online. Some light bedtime reading can be found here .
