Perth’s first-ever Design Week brand has been created by Block Creative Director and Co-Founder Mark Braddock, in collaboration with David Smith, WA State Chair of the Design Institute of Australia, and Sandy Anghie, President of the Australian Institute of Architects WA.

The inaugural Design Week for Perth will feature over 50 events and exhibitions exploring the significant role design plays in our daily lives. Celebrating a young city built on an ancient land that has been home to Noongar culture for tens and tens of thousands of years, the festival will showcase design possibilities in this growing and evolving city.

The brand identity for Perth Design Week captures the city’s unique energy and contradictions. “It’s all about structure, chaos, randomness and repetition … kind of like the city”, says Braddock. Smith adds that it is “a brand identity that is uniquely Perth and unlike any other design festival”.

The festival’s program includes “Thinking by Design”, presented by PADC and ADGA, featuring a talk by Gabi Fountain of Block (and AGDA’s Australian Emerging Designer of the Year and the reigning PADC Designer of the Year Diamond Skull winner) and Kevin Wilson of Nani, who will share insights into their collaboration in creating a significant new symbol representing the City of Perth.

Perth Design Week will run from March 23 to 30, and the full list of events can be found at https://www.perthdesignweek.com/.
