Avivo: The Support Project
Honouring everyday heroes

\ CHALLENGE

Traditional monuments celebrate historical figures, often overlooking the quiet contributions of everyday individuals who transform lives. Avivo, a not-for-profit supporting people with disabilities, wanted to honour the profound relationships between support workers and their customers, shifting societal perceptions of heroism and sparking public dialogue about who we truly value.

\ OUTCOME

The Support Project features life-sized sculptures of intersecting metal planes, each with cut-out silhouettes of a support worker and their customer. Together, these self-supporting structures symbolise mutual care and strength. Installed in public spaces across Western Australia, the pieces challenge perceptions and celebrate these vital human connections.

Complementing the sculptures, short documentaries share the stories behind each artwork, amplifying the message through social media. By redefining heroism, The Support Project sparks meaningful conversations, honouring the everyday relationships that shape our communities.
